The People on Michael Jackson

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

As you can see I’m still in my Michael Jackson mode. Here’s the perspective of Michael Jackson’s impact on British fans I think the video is an opportunity to view what people really have to say and I am even interested because it is coming from somewhere other than the states. This was filmed on the streets of London on the anniversary of his death (June 25th 2009).

For me his life and death is inspiring a lot of the work I am creating now which will be shown soon until then check out the vid and keep hitting us up for more blog posts and information from the Ends/Wealth Corp. source! Thank You

A TASTE OF L.A.

Monday, June 28th, 2010

I truly can’t hate on all the Chicago Artist that make it big and eventually move out to Los Angeles. Los Angeles felt like a second home to me its lifestyle, weather, landmarks, and people are what make it a unique city. This was my third time to L.A. and besides making my usual stops up and down La Brea, Fairfax, and Melrose I decided to hit up Beverly Hills for the first time and also relax in Santa Monica. My overall experience was great and I have to shout out my hotel The Modrian and this amazing restaurant Katana across the street from it on Sunset Blvd. for some suggestions on things to do while in L.A. email me at Juan@endswealthcorp.com….

Remembering Michael Jackson

Friday, June 25th, 2010

One year ago the greatest entertainer of all time died just before his very last tour kicked off. It was an unfortunately low end to a life that was full of extreme highs and lows. Volumes can be said about his art & life and many profess to his greatness even in his absence, the truth is the world won’t ever let you forget about Michael Jackson because his huge impact is forever.

Below is a video is a video I recorded exactly on year ago of people dancing in the street to celebrate his life on the day of his death. Check it out.

Back To The Classiks

Large Photo

Art is so time-consuming, but when you love what you create, you don’t mind the extra hours it takes to complete it. Recently, I made an important decision to take my art more seriously. Let me start off by saying, I over analyze everything, and I really respect the opinions of others. There’s nothing more discouraging for me than when some people say your good, others have no comments, and than I’m left uncertain if my work really does have what it takes.

SO, I said to hell with it. When I said that to myself, it was the first time I began to REALLY believe in myself as an artist who has something to say with my work. Since I’m in Chicago for this summer, I thought let me take advantage of the opportunities available. I set out to try to get my work featured in galleries, didn’t work out. So, I tried a few art stores. And, again didn’t work out. So, I finally was beginning to lose hope in the paintings that I’ve done, until last Friday.

I Co-Hosted a Hip-Hop event at Chicago’s premier Hip-Hop spot, The Bassment. I found out that they feature work in their store. So, I decided to try to see if my work would get accepted, and to my surprise it did. Keep in my mind, this is my first time having my work featured in a store…So I was pretty geeked. Anyway, someone still has to buy it, but the feeling is so great, knowing that people will get a glimpse of my piece. Now I’m more motivated, and inspired to create better work, because I know my pieces are good.

Make sure to check out my painting “Back To The Classiks” on the wall at The Bassment in Chicago 1415 N. Ashland. The painting is selling for $160. Take a look at the painting above.

I got Billboards son!!

So a couple off weeks ago you may have seen me running around with a shaved baby face. The reason behind that isn’t because I just wanted to try something new. Oh no, I know not to cut off the stache. The reason is because I got cast as a model for these advertisements that are going up around the city for Navy Pier (what a horrible website). Pretty dope for a guy who doesn’t consider himself a model at all.

Check out the pic above to see what photo they used in the ad. I got the chance to shoot with Taylor Castle (what an amazing website and portfolio) and managed to get some video in too. Check it out below! Be on the look out for the ad around Chicago and even in the news papers

The Roots – How I Got Over [Review]

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010

June is a great month for…MUSIC. With releases such as the anticipated “Thank Me Later”, and “Recovery”, the world of music is in a good place right now. However, there is one album that I cannot stop listening to, “How I Got Over”. Yep, the legendary Roots crew is back with a new album. I absolutely must HAVE their album each time.

A little over 15 years, nine albums, a few new band members, and a gig on late night TV, the band proves that they can still produce good music . The album begins with “A Piece of Light”, a 1 minute and 50 sec jazzy, smooth instrumental. Instantly, you feel the classic melodies and rhythms that comes from The Roots sound. My personal favorite tracks on the new album are, “Radio Daze”, “Doin’ It Again”, “How I Got Over”, and “The Fire”.

I’ve been a listener of The Roots for about 10 years now, and I’ll admit I haven’t liked each album they’ve made. BUT, if you love The Roots music, than this album will definitely meet all expectations. The 14 tracks on How I Got Over bring backs the feeling of their earlier albums. Now soon to be entering in their 40′s, this album represents their growth as a band. Expect many cameo appearances on the album from John Legend, Dice Raw, Phonte Coleman, and more. Overall, this album is really good, I would rate it an A+.
